Have you ever seen anything so out of context it momentarily disorients you? Sitting at the R & R crossing after a morning of mundane errands the unexpected sight of a live elephant sends pleasant shock waves thru me. Probably because I’ve been traveling these synaptic memory trails putting the Africa albums together, the initial bio-electric surge suggests my body is in that distant place again despite all other evidence to the contrary, making me feel almost dizzy. It takes another moment to process the rest of the picture, that the elephant with its distinctive upturned trunk is riding in an open box car, one of dozens of Barnum and Bailey Circus cars, box cars, passenger cars and flatbeds loaded with small B & B trucks... I love the (pleasant) unexpected, something that shakes the mind out of its habitual context...
